Every HMS air cleaner base and lid is CNC spun to precise dimensions for exceptional fit, strength, and consistency. We manufacture our air cleaner components from a high-strength hardened aluminum alloy, creating one of the strongest air cleaner base and lid combinations available for racing applications.
Our bases feature a 1/2-inch-tall outer retaining lip that securely supports the air filter element and helps keep it properly positioned under demanding racing conditions.

A rigid air cleaner base helps maintain proper sealing between the carburetor, Sure Seal, air filter, and lid. Better sealing helps reduce the chance of dirt bypassing the air filter while promoting smooth, consistent airflow into the carburetor.
Premium 1/2-Inch Dual O-Ring Sure Seal
Every HMS 14-Inch Air Cleaner Base includes a precision-machined 1/2-inch-tall mill-finish Sure Seal featuring two O-rings for maximum sealing performance.
- First O-ring: Seals between the carburetor and the Sure Seal.
- Second O-ring: Seals the Sure Seal to the air cleaner base.
This dual-seal design helps:
- Reduce dirt entering the engine
- Minimize unwanted air leaks
- Maintain cleaner airflow
- Help extend engine life
- Provide a more positive seal than a standard air cleaner base
Height Information
The included 1/2-inch-tall Sure Seal provides an overall height of 2 inches from the carburetor mounting flange to the air filter seating surface.
When used with a standard 4-inch-tall air filter, the overall height from the carburetor mounting flange to the air cleaner lid is approximately 6 inches.
