Hammond Motorsports was started in 1984. Racing has always been a part of Dave's life.
At the age 8, Dave started working on rebuilding transmissions in the family business. Early in Dave's teen years he built his first 9" Ford Rear End Housing. Then worked himself into rebuilding engines and was able to build a IMCA Mod Chassis all before the age of 18.
At the age of 22, Dave moved to North Carolina to work with NASCAR teams. With Dave's knowledge in building 9" Ford Rear End Housing, he started building them full time for NASCAR Trucks, Busch and Cup cars. Dave also worked some NASCAR work then decided to turn his focus on to short track racing.
After many years in North Carolina Dave moved back home to Iowa. Dave re-opened Hammond Motorsports full time in 2010. The business started in a small building. The business grew within 2 years Dave was forced to purchase a new location so he could expand. Dave designed a new race shop with mini storage units to rent.
In 2021, the opportunity came to grow the business even bigger. Dave purchased a bigger building outside Dewitt on Hwy 30 and Hwy 61 intersections, so he could expand into more manufacturing, shipping and retail shop. Dave also purchased internet-based company Dirt Car USA and JDM Pull Bars.
